Luxman began in Osaka in 1925, the year radio broadcasting started in Japan. A picture frame shop called Kinsuido opened a radio department that later became Luxman, and Luxman says Kinsuido published Japan's first radio manual. Today the company is based in Yokohama, where its own engineers design its products and master craftsmen build most of them.

In February 2025, as Luxman entered its 100th year, Rhythm acquired the assets of Luxman America and became the exclusive North American distributor for Luxman's high-end audio products. For more than eight years, Luxman America had been led by Jeff Sigmund, who chose Rhythm to carry the brand forward as he retired.

“As Luxman celebrates its 100th anniversary, the brand embarks on an exciting new era—one that coincides with my own journey into retirement to focus on family,” Mr. Sigmund said.

Tatsuya Sueyoshi, president of Luxman Corporation, looked ahead to “this new chapter with Rhythm Distribution—championing our passion for pure, natural sound into Luxman's next century.”

Luxman is one of the most revered brands in high-end audio. For us, taking on this responsibility as Luxman reaches its 100-year milestone is an extraordinary privilege.
